“At the Beach – Leigh Murphy”

Opening reception, Friday, October 29 th 7-9pm. Local watercolor artist Leigh Murphy will be the featured guest artist for this show. Leigh Murphy is the winner of over 100 awards and competitions around the United States , been featured in numerous Artists' and Watercolor publications and has participated in over 20 museum shows locally and nationally. Her works are included in a multitude of public and corporate collections, Disney, Jacksonville Aviation Authority, Baptist and St Vincent 's Hospitals to name just a few. She is best known for her realistic and detailed rendering of shells. Leigh's watercolors display rich brilliant color, exquisite lighting effects and textures and are truly fascinating to the viewer's senses. When asked to comment about her paintings, she said “They (her paintings) are hard to render but the results are always rewarding. My favorite paintings are also my recent ones; I find that I have to complete another one to be able to let the last one go.” First Street Gallery (located one block off the beach in Neptune Beach ) is very excited to have the opportunity to exhibit some of Leigh's recent works of art; it seems to be the perfect setting for her paintings “at the beach”.
